Purpose of the Group

Being a parent is an important and very demanding job. Support used to come from our families, but today many of us live far away from relatives and have to cope on our own.

Bringing up our young children can be very difficult. Sharing anxieties and problems can be great help. Just knowing that someone else has the same difficulties can ease the stress.

Life can be very lonely when you are at home with a baby or toddler; everyone needs friends - even a parent! We hope to provide somewhere you can make friends and relax.

"What is learned early in life lays the foundations for adulthood. Together as team leaders, parents and carers, we are here to love, encourage and nurture in our children the wisdom of Christian family values and foster in them a deep love of God and his Son Jesus Christ."

 Registration and Contributions

Each adult attending contributes £1.00 per week of attendance (regardless of number of children) to help meet the costs of refreshments, heating and to help purchase new toys. Registration is on first morning of attendance and you tick the attendance register thereafter.

 Refreshments

Tea, coffee, toast and fruit will be available each week. All parents are asked to take great care when hot tea/coffee is being served.

 Responsibility

There is no supervision as in a play group. each parent must look after and be responsible for their child/children during the session. The Parents and Toddlers Group cannot be held responsible for the safety or your child/children.

Parents should participate in their own child's play where necessary. In order to maintain the toys in good condition from week to week parents are asked to help tidy the toys away correctly. This is also good training for the children.

 Sickness

No sick child should be brought to Toddlers due to the risk of infecting others. Additionally due to the risk of German Measles to pregnant mothers, no child suspected of incubating this disease should be brought to the group.

 Think Safe

We ask that as each parent enters and leaves the building that they would ensure that both the outer and inner doors are closed behind them. Please take time to consider everyone's children in relation to this.

The Parents and Toddlers committee makes every effort to ensure that the play environment is safe. Please remember, however, that there is no supervision in the group and that you are fully responsible for the health and safety of your own child/children.

Special consideration should be given to avoiding spills during refreshments which may create a slipping hazard.

The facilities provided by Parents and Toddlers Group fall under St Patrick's Child Protection policy.  (Click here to view).

 Facilities
Toilet, Washroom and Baby changing facilities are available.
 Age Limit
Our Parents and Toddlers group is only suitable for pre-school children. If you have an older child who is home from school for some reason please do not bring them to the group as we are unable to accommodate them.

 Tidy up

All parents are asked to assist with tidying the toys and clearing the hall, each week before leaving. Please be willing to give a hand. Most of the parents organising the group have to leave promptly to collect their own children from play schools too. The hall must be cleared by 12.15pm
